Monica delivered a touching performance of the inspiring track “Pray” with country artists Jimmie Allen and Little Big Town during Monday night’s CMT Music Awards. The song appears on Allen’s 2021 Bettie James Gold Edition album, according to Taste of Country

Monica joined Allen and Little Big Town on stage as they angelically sang the hymn-like chorus with mellow harmonies, according to Billboard.

Standing on the stage and dressed in all white, Monica took the mic and provided her seamless vocals.

During the performance, the singer appeared touched by the lyrics as she stood alongside the other performers.

The spiritual ballad is described as genre-crossing and serves as an anthem for increased unity and inclusion in the country music industry.

“This song is powerful because, to me, it wasn’t a religious song. I’m not really a religious guy,” Allen told Billboard.

“I’m spiritual, but I’m not religious. When I heard it, it’s just pushing the idea that at some point in everyone’s life, we all go through something that causes you to stop and realize that you need a higher power to help you get through the situation you’re in,” the 36-year-old country artist added.

In Aug. 2021, Monica hinted at creating a country album, The Source reports.
