Nat Geo’s National Geographic 33 list is out on Tuesday, and among those highlighted are Idris and Sabrina Elba.
The yearly last celebrates 33 changemakers across the globe, from Hollywood icons to fearless climate warriors and trailblazing innovators,” to spotlight “individuals pushing boundaries for a more eco-conscious future.”
Per National Geographic, “Idris and Sabrina have transported this vision to Sherbo Island, a small tropical island off the coast of Sierra Leone, Idris’ father’s home country. The Elbas have identified an opportunity to marry ecological sustainability with economic growth for the 40,000 rural residents of the island, pairing investment and expertise with the enviable natural resources the island boasts, with the goal to make it a template for development across Africa.”
