Parents of a 3-year-old girl are filing a police report against the staff of an Illinois-based daycare after they claim someone ripped a braid from her scalp during nap time.
"It looked very painful," Robin Reddick, mother of Ariana, said to NBC Chicago. "I can see hair follicles of her hair."
Per the news site, the incident occurred Tuesday morning at the Kindercare in Oswego, Illinois. When the daycare phoned Reddick to inform her about the situation, workers insisted it was not an emergency.

After taking Ariana to the doctor, Reddick says the pediatrician determined a high level of force was used on the young girl's head. Officials at Kindercare released a statement and said they contacted state licensing despite Ariana suffering zero injuries.
"Although no injury occurred, we also reported the incident to state licensing, so that they may look into the matter for themselves, if they so choose."
Reddick remains displeased. She is filing a police report against the center and has also been in communication with the Department of Child and Family Services.
The controversy surrounding hair in school has been on the rise these last several months. In January, Blavity reported a mother in Texas took offense to her 6-year-old son's elementary school after administrators reportedly sent her child home with demands that she cut his dreadlocks.
