Iman Shumpert and Teyana Taylor recently marked a milestone by celebrating their wedding anniversary, the sixth since the big day October 1, 2016. Throughout the years, the couple has been open about sharing their version of Black love.

The multi-talented duo prides themselves on having an unconventional relationship and showing their affection in ways that are special to them. As they carved out another year, Shumpert continued their out-of-the-box thinking and gifted his wife a white 1979 Corvette.

Shumpert posted the car on his Instagram and shared the sentimental reason behind giving his wife the classic vehicle.

Shumpert is shown filling the car with long-stem red roses and captions the image with the following message for his wife:

“Men love the stories, the headaches, and the delicacies you have to put into refurbishing an old school because once it’s done and back on the road, you can truly appreciate the time and the times you have in it. It makes a statement to your inner self that no one could see this but you!”

He continued, “Years ago I told you I wanted a family and you gave me that. I bent my knee to you and you accepted my headache and trauma. You’ve pumped my brakes and fixed me up every time I had bump or bruise.”

“So yes, I could’ve gotten you a brand new car…but this car will symbolize a relationship that’s been thru it all,” he added. “The nostalgia of the corvette you wanted is heard but I want you to dress this one up little by little like we’ve done in this 6 years and make sure this muff–ka ride forever! I love you Mrs Shumpert. Year 6.”

Taylor matched her former basketball player husband’s energy and posted an equally sincere message about her feelings for him.

In a video, Taylor runs down the stairs of the couple’s home and goes outside to see her husband standing in front of the vintage beauty. Shumpert hugs and kisses her when she approaches the car.

Taylor captioned her post, “They say we are most alive when we are in love…Which is confirmation to me that we will live forever. There isn’t a day, minute, second or breath that I am not in love with you. Year six as one & forever more to go. Happy wedding anniversary my love @imanshumpert

Ever mine, ever thine, ever ours…. Real bad”

Shumpert rounded out the love fest with a final post of Taylor sitting in the two-seater holding one of the roses.

The video was captioned with, “The Nostalgia of 79, STARRING @teyanataylor

The post’s soundtrack was Taylor’s hit song, “Wake Up Love,” which featured Shumpert. The song was on Taylor’s retirement album, The Album.
