The Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts has announced a call for projects for the second round of its Co-production Platform.
Filmmakers from all over the world who have feature-length documentary projects with “an Arab world connection” in development or post-production, can apply to the Ismailia Co-production Platform.
The film’s director, producer, main talent, location, or subject matter, for example (any one of those), must be of the “Arab World,” which, by the way, includes the following African countries: Algeria, Djibouti, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Somalia, Sudan, and Tunisia, to start.
The co-production platform, launched last year aims to support new and emerging filmmakers interested in telling stories about the Arab region.
This year, the festival will select approximately eight to ten projects in development and two to four works-in-progress. It will then invite each project’s producer and director to attend the platform in Ismailia, Egypt, on June 5,6, and 7.
During these three days, participants will have one-on-one meetings with international producers, distributors, as well as sales agents, and will also meet with the jury of the co-production platform who will choose the projects that will win the platform’s development grants and funding.
The deadline for applications is April 15th, 2014.
The goal of the co-production platform is, first and foremost, to offer filmmakers the opportunity to meet and network with other industry professionals all over the world that could be potential project partners.
In addition, several prizes are offered:
– Development prize of $5000
– Post-production prizes in the form of Post Production facilities worth up to $15,000 per prize
– More prizes will be announced later
