Twitter is coming for Taylor Swift after she referred to Anita Baker by her first name.
“What a beautiful moment, CONGRATULATIONS ANITA!!” Swift wrote in a congratulatory tweet to the iconic singer.

Swift applauded the “Sweet Love” singer for obtaining the rights to her catalog after a complex battle with her former record label, as Blavity previously reported.
Twitter users immediately recognized that the "22" artist was unaware that she was speaking to an elder and quickly corrected her verbiage.
Umm it’s Ms. Anita to you, now you have a good day now Taylor pic.twitter.com/h1e67X2h9K

1. I don’t like her saying, “Anita” like they used to go to Claire’s after school together.
2. I was wondering why she tweeted this & then remembered she’s battling for her own masters. This is the performative weird stuff I don’t like. Would she have tweeted it if she wasn’t? https://t.co/ymGetE92rp— Jason Weintraub (@JRtheWriter) September 5, 2021
Her fans don’t even know who Anita Baker is???? https://t.co/cfORKRKQ5V

In response to Swift, Baker shared her gratitude for the continuous support she has shown throughout her legal battle.
"Thank You, for Your *Fire & Support!! It Inspires us all, to move Mountains," the 63-year-old wrote.

Earlier this year, Baker tweeted in support of Swift, who has also been wrapped up in a music ownership battle with music executive Scooter Braun.
"Her creations bought & sold Again & Again, wouldnt even let her do *A Buy Out*…Taylor Swift *re-recording, her Catalog/Taylor's Version," Baker wrote.
