Jamie Foxx is putting on his producer/writer hat to develop a new drama series for TNT titled Hit, which Foxx will co-writer with Rob Port (former Numbers co-executive producer).
Hit will follow 2 former high school football teammates (a QB and a WR), and best friends, who are hired by the Miami Police Department years later, and assigned to an exclusive unit known as HIT (or High Impact Team), where they use their on-the-field abilities and teamwork to hunt and take down Miami's most dangerous criminal element.
It's not exactly the same thing, but I can't help but think of Miami Vice, given the Jamie Foxx connection (he starred in the feature film version of the film), as well as the fact that it'll be set in Miami, and will most likely star a black/white pairing as the 2 best friends now HIT members – the QB will likely be white, and the WR, black.
And I'm sure there'll be some comedy mixed in.
Foxx and Port will exec produce with Foxx’s producing partner Marcus King.
Catch Foxx in Django Unchained next, as well as White House Down in summer 2013. Most recently, he was cast as Electro, manipulator of electricity, in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
The man's busy.
