After all the delays in casting the lead of Django in Quentin Tarantino's much talked about western/slavery explotation Django Unchained, which included consideration for actors Will Smith and Idris Elba; Jamie Foxx feels "honored and blessed" to ultimately land the role of a slave turned bounty hunter who sets out to rescue his slave wife from from a an evil plantation owner with the help of a mentor.

In an interview from Fansshare.com, Foxx says, “Sometimes we sort of forget why we’re in Hollywood as actors and actresses, ‘coz were doing so many other things. But at the end of the day, cinema is really what it’s all about. I’m so honored and blessed to be with Leonardo (DiCaprio), Quentin Tarantino, Samuel L. Jackson, I believe Kurt Russell and some others.”

The production has assembled an impressive and albeit random cast, which along Foxx, includes Kerry Washington as the slave wife Broomhilda, Leonardo DiCaprio as the evil plantation owner, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Samuel L. Jackson, Christopher Waltz, Don Johnson, Sacha Baron Cohen and Kurt Russell.

Django will begin shooting next year and it's expected to be released December 25, 2012.
