It's Erykah Badu and Jamie Foxx day here at S&A.

On the heels of today's much-anticipated unveiling of Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained trailer comes news that the star of that movie, Jamie Foxx, is reportedly in talks to play the President of the USA in Roland Emmerich's thriller White House Down.

The project already has Channing Tatum attached as a Secret Service agent who tries to save the president when the White House is attacked.

This will be the second film in which director Emmerich cast a black actor in the role of USA President; he did the same in 2012, casting Danny Glover in the part.

By the way, this is not to be confused with Antoine Fuqua's thriller Olympus Has Fallen (apparently now called White House Taken)  which has been described as a “Die Hard in the White House," and stars Gerard Butler as an unlikely Secret Service agent trying to stop terrorists who have taken over the White House.

Wait… what? Sounds practically like the same movie doesn't it? What would be even funnier is if the president in Fuqua's project (assuming there is one) is also played by a black actor.

White House Down; White House Taken; uh… one of those titles will probably be changed – especially if both films are out around the same time, or even in the same year.

But really, what might these flicks be telling us about the country's current state of affairs, since cinema is often reflective of the zeitgeist?
