Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett is calling out Vice President JD Vance after he took shots at her on Sunday at the Turning Point USA America Fest. Responding to Vance’s rambling speech, which included a series of derogatory remarks about non-white people and disparaging comments about Crockett’s resume, she said Vance’s comments are the same “racist tropes” she has heard her “entire life.”
“Anybody that you talk to knows my credentials,” Crockett told MS Now’s The Weekend: Primetime, according to The Grio. “They know that I’ve gone to school. They know that I’m educated…but at the end of the day, I am who I am, and I am authentic.”
JD Vance called Jasmine Crockett a ‘street girl’
In his speech on Sunday, Vance described Crockett as a “street girl” and said Democrats are “not sending their best” for the 2026 elections.
“The record speaks for itself. She wants to be a senator, though her street girl persona is about as real as her nails,” Vance told the crowd.
He also added that Crockett and her fellow Democrats are “puppets.”
“They are cogs in a machine that wants to make you poorer, that wants to make you less powerful, and wants to make you less safe in the country your ancestors built…President Trump and I are doing everything we can to break that machine,” Vance said, per The Grio.
What did Jasmine Crockett say in response to JD Vance’s insults?
Crockett had a lot to say about Vance’s remarks when she spoke on The Weekend: Primetime.
“That is actually what they are fearful of…my authenticity, because it rings true with every single American, whether they’re a Texan or not,” Crockett said.
The Congresswoman also vowed to stay focused despite her opponents’ efforts to distract her.
“When they can tell me about their policies that are helping Texas, then we can have a conversation, until then, take whatever shots you want to take at me, because I have been a Black woman my entire life,” she said.
Crockett continued to fire back as she called out Vance for his own questionable record.
“Baby, let’s talk about your record, because the only reason you’re the vice president is because the current President tried to have his last [vice] president killed,” she said.
Crockett’s comment was in regards to President Donald Trump supporters who broke into the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2020 and chanted “Hang Mike Pence” as Trump tried to overturn the election after Joe Biden won.
