While fans are still taking notes from the gems he dropped in "4:44," Jay-Z kept up the momentum by releasing the "BAM," video starring Damian Marley.
In the video, which can be viewed on Tidal, the New York rapper explores Bob Marley's neighborhood in Trenchtown, Jamaica, with the legend's son Damian.
The video opens with an aerial view of the town and Damian talking about the area where his father grew up. "BAM" samples Sister Nancy's "Bam Bam" which plays in the background of the video creating an authentic atmosphere as Damian and Jay-Z discuss the legendary Bob Marley and how reggae music influences black music and culture.
In the video, Jay-Z says "The prophets in the beginning were musicians. They were poets, writers."
Since the album dropped on June 30, Jay-Z has released music videos for the title track "4:44" and "The Story of O.J." along with mini documentaries entitled "Footnotes" where he discusses his latest music, his marriage and past indiscretions.
The album is still on rotation for many. Jay-Z drops knowledge about financial accountability, racism and even includes bars from his daughter Blue Ivy Carter in the bonus tracks. Despite how many times he has threatened to retire from the rap game, Jay-Z continues to share wisdom and dope music with us and we're all grateful for it.
