Jill Scott‘s son, Jett Hamilton Roberts, was her plus one at Marsai Martin‘s 18th birthday party, and we can’t believe how much he’s grown.

Roberts, 13, attended “Marsai’s Kingdom of Far Far Away” birthday party last week in Los Angeles. He posed for pictures with Bel-Air‘s Jabari Banks and the birthday girl and was visibly having a good time.

Commenters shared their thoughts on the singer’s post, sending love to both Scott and her son.

Artist Bisa Butler said, “Beautiful mother and son!”

Singer Anthony Hamilton called the photo “Soul Beautiful.”

“Look at that young fella coming into his own,” Therapist Kier Gaines said. “You love to see it!”

“It was great seeing you! You two looked amazing,” said actor and singer Amber Riley.

During an episode of Jemele Hill’s Unbothered podcast, Scott talked about her fear of her son being a brown boy in the world.

“It’s terrifying because it doesn’t matter if you have, or you don’t,” Scott said. “All that matters is that you’re brown. That’s it.”

“Just to know that he will be on the road, just to know that he will be away from people that love him in a world that will decide whether he’s guilty of something because he’s brown. That’s terrifying,” she said of Jett learning to drive in the near future. “It makes me consider leaving this place often,” she added.

We look forward to what Jett has in store for the future.
