Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler seems to be expressing his newfound freedom in the off-season by changing up his hairdo, and Twitter appears to be having a hard time understanding his decision.

According to Sports Illustrated, social media caught wind of his new locs after basketball trainer Chris Brickley posted pictures of the power forward.

The pictures showed the two on the court, with Butler appearing to have traded in his go-to high-top for locs.

Naturally, Twitter had something to say about Butler’s new hairstyle. Most were scratching their heads, and many couldn’t resist roasting the Miami Heat player.

“Jimmy Butler said,” a Twitter user wrote with a picture of Terrence Howard.

“Tyler Herro and Jimmy Butler,” one user wrote with a snap of Eminem and Mekhi Phifer in 8 Mile.

“From Drake to Jimmy Butler these n***as go from waves or fros to fake extensions and braids to compete with women, and we used to carry ourselves with dignity,” another tweeted.

“Calling Jimmy Butler ‘Jimmy Bundles’ all next season is gonna be comedy,” one user hilariously added.

Another viewer noted that the social media chatter about Butler’s new ‘do shows how slow things are in the NBA circuit.

“The fact that Jimmy Butler’s extensions are, by far, the talk of Twitter is a true testament to where we’re at in the NBA offseason,” they tweeted.

And one user even suggested that Butler’s new hair is a tribute to Brittney Griner.

“Jimmy Butler with the Brittney Griner hair tribute,” they wrote.

Butler deserves to blow off a little steam after a challenging season. The Heat dominated the Eastern Conference, securing a spot in the Finals, Sports Illustrated reports. However, the team was defeated by the Boston Celtics in Game 7 in Miami, ending their NBA season.
