Social media sensation and rapper John Gabbana recently sat down for an interview with The Shade Room, where he reflected on his alias ‘Boonk Gang.’

“I got famous [in] 2017, I changed my name [in] 2018. It only took me a year to realize that this is not the life I want to live,” the social media star shared. “I’m 25 and I did a whole 180 – it’s people 40-years-old that still [haven’t] learned their lesson. It’s because I was not that type of person for real. That’s not who I am for real. That’s why I changed so quickly.”

Gabbana went on to recall his time in jail, where he says he was “introduced to Jesus.”

“I always believed in Jesus but I never knew to live for him,” he shared. “So I learned about Jesus when I went to jail, [and] came out still living a worldly life. I didn’t have an example, I didn’t have no guidance and that’s what happens when men – when anybody – don’t have older men, no guidance, no example [and] they just go off what they’re taught from the world and from their environment.”

Gabbana went on to say that now that he’s “older” and “more mature,” he’s learned that he has to be more conscious of his actions, and understand that the world may not always agree with how he chooses to handle himself.

During the interview, Gabbana was accompanied by his girlfriend, fellow social media sensation, Victoria Rose, previously known as Woah Vicky. And viewers took the time to leave their uplifting reactions to Gabbana’s newfound maturity, as well as the pair’s union.

One user wrote, “Amen, I love this!” and another commented, “They both changed for the better fr.”
