In September, Siwa called Nickelodeon out, revealing that the network prevented her from performing certain songs on her 37-city D.R.E.A.M. tour. Siwa said in the now-deleted tweet that Nickelodeon told her that the songs from her movie musical could not appear in her show.
“I go out on tour in January. My movie musical was just released (with six new original songs),” Siwa tweeted. “Nickelodeon told me today that I’m not allowed to perform/add any of the songs from the film into my show. These are MY songs, MY voice, MY writing. Does this seem fair???”
Following two postponements caused by the pandemic, Siwa began her D.R.E.A.M. tour in January. The singer planned on performing songs from her recent E.P.s: “D.R.E.A.M. The Music” from 2018 and “Celebrate” from 2019.
In a separate deleted tweet, Siwa shared that there is no reason her music shouldn’t be included.
“There is no reason that this music should not be included,” Siwa tweeted. “Working for a company as a real human being treated as only a brand is fun until it’s not.”
