On February 9, 1964, The Beatles made their historic appearance at the Ed Sullivan theatre, and 52 years later, in the same theatre, Jon Batiste made a moment all his own. The kid from Kenner, LA — whose music is aptly titled social music — is known for bringing the flare of New Orleans anywhere he goes and inciting his infectious love riots along the way. However, on Tuesday night he brought it all down to love: the peaceful, resolute force just looking for its moment to rise.
