Mannie Fresh described Juvenile’s “Back Dat Azz Up” as the “greatest love song of all time” during a recent interview.

He spoke with HipHopDX at the 2023 Lovers and Friends Festival.

Pimpin’ and Parlae of Dem Franchize Boyz joined the New Orleans native and discussed the song’s success and why the rap quartet is considered the last generation that incorporated dances in their music.

Dem Franchize Boyz consists of four members: Pimpin’, Parlae, Jizzal Man and Buddie. The group’s single “Lean Wit It Rock Wit It” was released in 2006 and had everyone doing the infectious dance. The song remains a classic hit and is still played at various functions today.

When asked what was the last dance that inspired them from a generation, Mannie said the Atlanta-based group was the last of an era. He said the new artists focus more on being tough than having fun in their music.

“Like wait, y’all ain’t dancing no more? Y’all that gangsta?” the 54 -year-old asked.

“I love when people smile and have fun, ain’t nothing wrong with that,” he added.

Pimpin’ and Parlae also shared their thoughts on the hip-hop dance culture. The pair said Lil Uzi Vert’s “Just Wanna Rock” is the most significant hip-hop dance record in recent years.

“It ain’t a diss, but you probably not gonna hear none of the new s**t played at a wedding reception five years from now,” Mannie said of the song’s lasting impact on the culture.

The legendary producer has created some of the South’s hottest tracks, with “Back Dat Azz Up” as his favorite from Juvenile’s 400 Degreez album. He said the song has crossed over to multiple generations and is still played at various occasions and events.

Mannie said the late ’90s hit is “the greatest love song of all time.”
