Former NBA star Dwyane Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union captured the hilarious reaction of their 2-year-old daughter Kaavia James Wade when she saw the cover of her parents’ new book, Shady Baby, for the first time.

On Tuesday, the 39-year-old dad posted her reaction to his social media in celebration of the release of the book, which the couple collectively wrote together.

“ITS BABY KAAVIA!!! How Kaavia James knew that was an illustration of her is beyond me (in my HaHa Davis voice) It’s May 18th people if you haven’t pre ordered your #ShadyBaby book go order one today!!!!!!” Wade wrote on Twitter.

In the video, Wade can be seen counting up to three before surprising Kaavia with the book. Bouncing up and down, the little girl immediately snatches the book from her dad’s hands then sits down to quickly flip through its pages.

Despite only being 2 years old, Kaavia was confident the cartoon on the book's cover was herself.

“It’s baby Kiya! It’s baby Kiya!” she repeatedly says, pronouncing her name wrong as Wade corrects her.

“It’s Kaavia,” he said with a laugh.

In her own post, Union quote-tweeted the video with a much simpler message with several face emojis.

“We captured the moment Kaav 1st saw the bookcover of #ShadyBaby her reaction is priceless," Union wrote.

The 48-year-old actress previously explained that the book was in fact inspired by Kaavia and her now very famous “side-eye” moments, USA Today reported. The internet has had fun observing the many “shady” faces of Kaavia, most of which were documented throughout the pandemic. Compilations of her facial expressions are now all over YouTube.

In March 2020, Kaavia was completely unimpressed by former NBA star Shaquille O'Neal who told her he was "Uncle Shaquie," as Blavity previously reported.

Just Tuesday, Union posted another photo of Kaavia to social media where the little girl appears to be giving someone not pictured the side-eye.

“Thought so. #ShadyBaby,” she wrote as the caption.

Union recently said Kaavia’s shady moments are actually a part of her superpower as a little Black girl, as Blavity previously reported. She said how the little girl reacts to the world around her, and that of other Black girls, should be accepted and encouraged.
