A little late on this announcement… South Africa/Canadian actress Kandyse McClure (probably best known for her work as Anastasia Dualla on the classic Sci-Fi hit military drama series Battlestar Gallactica) has joined that cast of Netflix’s new horror thriller original series Hemlock Grove.

Yes, in case you missed the memo, Netflix is a content creator now; not just a distributor/exhibitor.

Hemlock Grove comes from executive producer Eli Roth and is based on Brian McGreevy's novel of the same name. McClure joins a cast that includes Bill Skarsgard, Famke Janssen, Lili Taylor, and Dougray Scott.

Hemlock Grove revolves around the murder of a young girl found close to the former Godfrey steel mill. The suspects in her killing include a 17-year-old Gypsy kid from the wrong side of the tracks, and the arrogant Godfrey scion, whose sister is disturbingly deformed, and whose mother is the beautiful and controlling grand dame of Hemlock Grove. In the end, the suspects decide to find the killer themselves.

Kandyse will play Dr. Chausser, an animal behaviorist with a history of self-destructive habits, who looks to the military to create order in her own life, and often becomes conflicted with who she wants to be and who she is.

The series is set to premiere in January of 2013.

McClure recently shined alongside Rachel Leigh Cook in the dramatic feature film Broken Kingdom, released in October of this year. She's also starred in many notable films and television series including: Showtime’s Jeremiah, NBC’s psychological drama series Persons Unknown, and several others.

I had the opportunity to interview McClure yesterday, and hope to have a summary of that exchange posted here soon.
