Ye, known better by his birth name, Kanye West, is known for many things — his creative prowess, infamous romantic relationships, and affinity for controversial fashion statements. The rapper has made his fair share of the latter over the years, and recently did so again during a surprise fashion show for his Yeezy brand in Paris on Monday.

Not one to shy away from stirring up chaos, West has had his share of viral moments online. Today he is making headlines for causing a ruckus over his views on race. However, if you thought he was changing his slavery is “a choice” tune after recently vowing to partner with Black-owned businesses, don’t hold your breath. It seems like he might be back to his old antics once again.

Kanye West held a surprise fashion show to debut his Yeezy brand’s highly anticipated Season 9 collection on Monday during the Paris Womenswear Fashion Week. Before the models graced the stage, Ye — in typical Ye fashion — had to address the crowd. While doing so, he wore bedazzled flip-flops and a black T-shirt that read  “White Lives Matter” in large white lettering on the back.

Folks weren’t too happy about the latter.

A snap of the 45-year-old’s fit is already circulating online.

“Kanye West is the biggest loserr [sp?] on earth, and the black communities obsession with awful human beings that make music needs to be studied,” a Twitter user wrote.

“Oh god Kanye West is back in his MAGA era,” another added.

One Twitter user thinks Ye may have new music on the way, and the “White Lives Matter” T-shirt is a marketing ploy.

“n**** back wit the controversies, album otw,” they shared.

After seeing Ye’s shirt, a viewer suggested the Black Lives Matter movement should consider changing its slogan.

“I think we should just change the slogan to “End Police Brutality” people just don’t get it as it is now,” they tweeted.

Another user suggested the rapper may be connecting with a “particular audience.” They shared a photo of the audience they believe West was pandering to.

“‘maybe this kanye guy isnt too bad,'” they wrote.

However, not everyone was critical of the designer’s fashion choice.

“Free thinker, that guy,” a user wrote.

Don’t talk to @kanyewest unless you have at least $140 Million at J.P.Morgan like him,” tweeted another fan in defense of the 45-year-old.

Though West is receiving backlash for his “White Lives Matter” shirt, chances are he stands with his choice. During his speech at the show, he discussed many of his headline-making moments: Ye brought up his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian’s Paris robbery, him parting ways with Scoot Braun, his fallout with Gap, and much more. He also told attendees he’s not afraid of standing out, and standing in his truth.

“I am Ye, and everyone here knows that I am the leader,” he said. “You can’t manage me.”
