For the longest, fans have asked and pleaded for Keke Palmer to become part of the cast of Sister Act 3. But even though there have been fan casting tweets and even Whoopi Goldberg commenting on wanting Palmer for the film, it’s still unclear if she actually has a role. With so much uncertainty in the air, Palmer addressed the rumors to HollywoodLife.
"I love that the rumors about me become so good that they become true," the 'Lightyear' star to the outlet while promoting her partnership with Doritos and their Big Dip Energy giveaway.
“I’m gonna go with this because I’m definitely cast in Sister Act 3–they even have it on IMDb at this point. It’s real. So I mean, they haven’t given me the contract, honey, but I will do it for free at this point. [IMDb] did set us all up because I looked at it myself and said, ‘When do I start filming?'”
Ever since the film was announced, fans have wanted Palmer, who can sing as well as act, to become a part of Sister Mary Clarence's choir.
Goldberg, who is reprising the character in the film, also talked about trying to get Palmer to be a part of the film.
“I’m gonna ask Keke to come,” she said to Charlamagne Tha God on Hell of a Week in October of this year. “You know I want everybody to come in. I want Lizzo to come.” She also added that she wants Nicki Minaj to join as well.
She also addressed this on 'The View' back in November 2021 when Palmer was a guest.
After Palmer said she wanted to be a part of the film, Goldberg replied, “I already brought it up.”
Sister Act 3 is produced by Tyler Perry and will find Sister Mary Clarence–aka lounge singer Deloris Van Cartier–back in action at the convent for another music-filled adventure.
Perry has said last year how he hopes the film is "that feel-good moment in the movies where you go, 'Oh my God, I left there singing.'"
