The lovely Keke Palmer has been cast to play Marty Maraschino in Fox’s Grease: Live. For those of you who don’t remember Marty, she was a member of The Pink Ladies and the character who always tried to act mature and claimed that she was into older guys.
Palmer has starred in many acting and singing roles that prove she will be great as Marty. Most recently, she was the star of Cinderella on Broadway, the host of her own her talk show and Zayday in the upcoming horror series Scream Queens on Fox. She was the first African-American to play Cinderella and the youngest star to have a talk show.
I am beyond excited to see miss Palmer take on this role in Grease: Live. She has a great voice and personality, and it’s groundbreaking to see a Black woman play this role when all the original main characters of Grease were white. I can’t wait to see how Keke will shake it up alongside Vanessa Hudgens as Betty Rizzo and Julianne Hough as the lead, Sandy Olsson.
