Kenan Thompson is cementing his legacy in Hollywood, literally. The comedian is slated to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Aug. 11, BET reports.

“Kenan Thompson is the voice of a generation,” Ana Martinez, Walk of Fame producer, said in a statement, according to BET. “From Kenan and Kel to Saturday Night Live, Kenan has been making folks laugh for nearly 30 years,” she said. “In celebration of his upcoming 20th anniversary on SNL, we thought it would be fitting to place Kenan’s star next to the star of the man who gave him his job, Lorne Michaels.”

The 44-year-old addressed the good news on Instagram, sharing how excited he is to be a part of the 2022 Walk of Fame class.

“Woke up this morning to incredible news!! I’m getting a [star] on The Hollywood Walk of Fame!!!! Shout to the entire class of 2022!!!!” he wrote in the caption.

He went on to congratulate a few of his fellow awardees, including Regina King, Byron Allen, Michael Strahan and Holly Robinson Peete.

“I’m completely humbled by this news!!!” he continued. “Thank you so very much to everyone who has enjoyed my work for the last almost 30 yrs!!! My Know it Alls, we did it!!! @theblackscorsese and Mike Piroli, YOU did it!!!”

Thompson has been a standout laugh factory since the early ’90s, when he appeared in films like D2: The Mighty Ducks and Good Burger. He went on to dominate Nickelodeon, joining the original cast of sketch-comedy series All That and later snagging a show of his own, Kenan & Kel.

He kept working over the years, and in 2003 he joined SNL. He’s been there ever since, and  is the show’s longest-running cast member, Vulture reports.
