Khaby Lame has landed a major role on Italia’s Got Talent.

The Senegalese-born Italian social media sensation is the world’s most-followed content creator on TikTok.

Variety reports that he will now be a juror on Italia’s Got Talent. He rose to fame on TikTok during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020 and has continued to amass his following since, making him a viable option for the competition series.

It’s not his first segway into the juror world. In 2022, he was a member of the Cannes Film Festival’s #TikTokShortFilm jury. He now has 154 million followers on TikTok.

He joins as a juror alongside pop singer and TV personality Elettra Lamborghini, who is also new to the show. Returning jurors on the show are Mara Maionchi, and Italian-American actor and YouTuber Frank Matano.

The upcoming season of Italia’s Got Talent sees the show move from Sky to Disney+ in Italy.

As we previously reported, Lame joined TikTok 2020 after being laid off from his job as a machine operator at a factory in Turin, Italy. During quarantine, the Senegal-born comedian became famous for his videos poking fun at other TikTokers went viral.

The 22-year-old said he started making videos while unemployed during quarantine because he was bored.

“The pandemic had just started,” Lame said. “and I was bored with a lot of time on my hands, so I started making videos on TikTok.”
