Kid Cudi responded to social media users after facing criticism for painting his fingernails. Unbothered by their unsolicited opinions, he told critics that if painting his nails is problematic for them, they should stop buying his music.

On Saturday, the 37-year-old rapper posted a picture on Instagram of him throwing up the peace sign with orange and blue nail polish on his fingers, Buzzfeed reported

Some people took issue with his post and questioned his sexuality. After receiving negative comments, Kid Cudi disabled the comment feature on all of his Instagram posts.

In a tweet, he addressed critics and informed them that if they can’t support his choice of painting his nails then, they don’t need to support his music career either.

"Turned my comments off on Instagram. Seems people really have a problem [with] me painting my nails. I got tired of blockin so many accounts. I really need [you] to understand, if u dont like me doin this or anything I do, please dont buy my albums, dont come to my shows. F**k way off."

Kid Cudi has faced criticism before for his unconventional style, as Blavity previously reported. In April of this year, he received criticism after sporting a floral dress during his appearance on Saturday Night Live.

During an interview with HBO’s The Shop: Uninterrupted,  he said he wore the dress to honor Nirvana member Kurt Cobain who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in 1994. Although the rapper received backlash for wearing the dress, he wasn’t phased.

“I’ve never been someone who’s like thinking about the backlash. I don’t give a f**k about what anyone thinks,” he said during the interview, Complex reported.

“You can’t when you’re doing this sh*t. I knew it would piss some people off, but I love that. Because hip-hop is so weird about s**t. I’ve already seen people making YouTube videos where they’re just strictly talking about me and this dress," he said.

"Like grown men angry, grown Black men angry. ‘He’s doing something against men and masculinity, it’s a big thing going on…’ And I just be like, yo, this is so funny, this is crazy that I’ve stirred it up like this …I want to be a disruptor, I want to f**k s**t up,” he added.

The rapper says by being unconventional he’s encouraging young children to embrace themselves.
