Scott Mescudi, known to most of the world as rapper, singer-songwriter, producer Kid Cudi, has added yet another new role to his fledgling acting resume, joining the cast the film adaptation of the hit HBO series Entourage.
Cudi has signed up to play Ari Gold’s (Jeremy Piven’s) new assistant, as his previous long-suffering assistant, moved up.
Cudi will next be seen alongside Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper, Imogen Poots, Ramon Rodriguez, Rami Malek and Harrison Gilbertson, in Dreamworks’ adaptation of the video game Need For Speed, directed by Scott Waugh.
The story follows a man (played by Aaron Paul) who races across the country at high speeds, seeking revenge on the man who killed his best friend.
Mescudi plays the best friend – so I guess it’s no spoiler at this point to say that he dies before the film is over.
It sounds like it’ll be a Fast & Furious-style romp.
Kid Cudi can also be seen in the upcoming rom-com Two Night Stand, as well as an apocalyptic indie comedy titled Goodbye World, starring Adrian Grenier.
Cudi is still relatively new to acting; from 2010 to 2011, for 2 seasons, he co-starred in the HBO comedy series How to Make It in America, as part of the main cast, until its cancellation.
The above new projects mark his entry into big screen, feature film acting.
