Kimberly Elise is disappointing fans after congratulating the Supreme Court on rolling back women’s rights, with many bringing up the plot of For Colored Girls.
Elise posted to Instagram Tuesday about the ruling that rolled back abortion rights with a picture of a baby girl. According to Bossip, the picture quoted Psalm 139: 13-14: “For you formed my inward parts, You knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it well.”
She also wrote, "Millions of babies will be saved from death by abortion due to the overturning of Roe V. Wade. Hallelujah! #allglorybetoGod."
While Elise turned her comments on Instagram off, people have used Twitter to drag her for celebrating the lessening of bodily autonomy.
One person wrote, “Not my sister Kimberly Elise pro life,” using a gif of Viola Davis as Annalise Keating.

Others brought up the fact that Elise starred in For Colored Girls, which involved the dangers of illegal abortion.
“Clearly Kimberly Elise learned NOTHING from For Colored Girls cause there was a whole back alley abortion scene ?? And I guess she just was not on set for that day of filming!?” wrote one commenter.

Another wrote the controversy with Elise is "laughable because she was in 'For Colored Girls' which literally has a back alley abortion scene that almost killed Tessa Thompson’s character. Shorty must’ve been on set foaming at the mouth."
The Kimberly Elise shit is laughable because she was in For Colored Girls which literally has a back alley abortion scene that almost killed Tessa Thompson’s character.

Others also questioned what Elise would do if her children had to have an abortion to survive.
“Pro-choice is the choice to continue a pregnancy or not,” wrote one commenter. “I wonder what Kimberly Elise would do if her child was dying from a complicated pregnancy, which is high in black women? SCOTUS knew what they were doing.”

And, as another succinctly wrote in response to a commenter angry about Elise getting taken to task, Elise is celebrating a belief being forced on people, which is against the idea of liberty itself.
“If Kimberly Elise’s religion believes that abortion is wrong, then she shouldn’t have an abortion,” they said. “However, some other religions make think differently. Kim is trying to force her religion onto everyone through federal law. This has nothing to do with race.”
Exactly. If Kimberly Elise’s religion believes that abortion is wrong, then she shouldn’t have an abortion. However, some other religions make think differently. Kim is trying to force her religion onto everyone through federal law. This has nothing to do with race.
