After a devastating loss against Argentina in the World Cup final on Sunday, French striker Kylian Mbappé assured his country’s supporters that the future is still bright for France’s national team. Mbappé, who scored a hat-trick when France lost in penalty kicks against Argentina, went to Twitter to deliver an encouraging message to the French supporters.
“We will return,” Mbappé wrote in French.
Mbappé earned the Golden Boot award at the World Cup in Qatar after scoring eight goals in seven matches. According to the Daily Mail, the 23-year-old became only the second men’s player after Geoff Hurst to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final.
Mbappé has now scored 12 goals in two World Cups. That equals the total for Brazilian legend Pelé.
France has played in four of the last seven World Cup finals, winning half their appearances.
