Finnish director Aki Kaurismaki’s comedy/drama film La Havre has won the top prize as best film, called the Golden Hugo Award , at this year’s Chicago International Film Festival which the festival officially announced this morning.
The film, which made its premiere this year at the Cannes Film Festival, tells the story about shoe-shiner who tries to save an African immigrant child in the French port city Le Havre. The film will be released in France and most of Europe in late December and will make its American theatrical release on Friday October 21 via Janus Films.
