I posted an item a few days ago about films being screened at this year's Chicago International Film Festival (Oct. 11-25) that would definitely be of interest to S & A followers.

However there are also two more films, which I confessed I had overlooked (sorry about that), that would be be interest as well, Both films we have covered here before. One is Adam Leon's Gimme the Loot about two teens who spend a crazy and frustrating day trying to rasie $500 so they can tag an iconic NYC landmark for revenge.

But what's even more interesting is that the festival will also be screening Juan Andres Arango's La Playa DC which competed in this year's Un Certain Regard section at this year's Cannes Film festival

As Tambay, said in his posting about the film back in May, the film "centers on Tomas, an Afro-Colombian teenager struggling with the difficulties of growing up in a city (Bogota) of exclusion and racism against those who look like him; When his younger brother disappears, Tomas is forced to leave his home to look for him. With the help from his older brother Chaco, Tomas roams the city's streets, as his search becomes more of a journey in which he's forced to face his past, and to leave aside the influence of his brothers in order to find his own identity, all with the vibrancy and instability of a city in flux as the film's backdrop".

Unfortunately the film was not selected for this year's New York International Film Festival. But the Big Apple's loss is the Windy City's gain.
