Here’s a look at the poster for Michael Jai White’s first installment in the Codename: Falcon franchise of movies.
Last September, we brought you news that White had signed on to star in what is expected to be an action movie franchise from Moonstone Entertainment. The franchise revolves around a former marine named John “Falcon” Chapman, described as a “dark anti-hero driven by guilt, who will destroy himself unless given something else to destroy,” making him “a useful weapon-of-last-resort for the foreign ministry.“
The first film in the franchise, titled Favela, is currently in production.
From White himself:
FAVELA is the type of movie I’ve waited to do my entire career. Get ready folks cause this first of what’s to come.
What’s Favela about?
The first movie, FAVELA, sees Chapman traveling to Brazil to hunt down his sister’s killers, in the process discovering an underground world of drugs, prostitution, and police corruption ruled by the Japanese mafia.
Ernie Barbarash (who’s directed 2 Jean-Claude Van Damme movies) is directing Favela.
Moonstone’s plans are to produce about one Falcon movie a year, following White’s Chapman as he is sent to exotic locations all over the world, to do the “foreign ministry’s” dirty work.
And no trailer yet either, although I’m sure one will come in time; but here’s the first released poster of the film, which includes the first image from the film of White, which I posted in March, and his co-star Masashi Odate. It also mentions that Neal McDonough, and Laila Ali will also be the film, which I didn’t know until today. I wonder if Laila will get to throw a few punches herself. Or maybe she’s White’s love interest. Or maybe both.
Also, as the poster states, the film will be out this fall:
Here’s the first image from the film, originally posted in March.
