After uploading a video of himself rapping homophobic lyrics, Atlanta actor Lakeith Stanfield quickly deleted the post and replaced it with an apology.

“I make videos all the time, which I usually end up deleting as soon as I make them. I assume characters that have different viewpoints and different views on life, and just from different perspectives. Some things my views are in line with, and some things my views aren’t aligned with. And this character that you've seen is a character I'm definitely not in line with,” Stanfield said in the video posted on Tuesday, June 26.

“I definitely don’t believe those things. I just want people to know, coming from me, that I've never been homophobic,” he continued. “I've never agreed with homophobic thought or hatred toward anyone for that matter. I’m a person that moves in love, and I wanna promote and continue to push that. Love for all people and all different types of love in every form it takes. I want people to have a clear understanding.”

Though Stanfield deleted the original post, Twitter user @_BayBey saved and uploaded it.

Stanfield captioned the rap “Offensive Freestyle (not for the easily offended)” and spit lines with his shirt pulled above the lower half of his face while continuously looking downward as if he was reading the lyrics. The rap featured lines like:

“Take that chump change back, that’s some gay sh*t/ Only black rags in my cap like I’m racist/ F*g I don’t really like to brag, but I’m straight rich.”
