A sign of the times… did you miss the YouTube Upfronts?

Lance Reddick has been tapped to star in a dark, futuristic web series titled The 117, a new web series that will be broadcast on the YouTube channel You Offend Me, You Offend My Family, which Fast Five's Justin Lin is shepherding. 

The 117 centers on robots that are designed and programmed by humans to be superior soldiers, and that have become part of the U.S. military.

Reddick's starring character is described as the "ruthless commander of the drone army assigned to deploy and keep the drones in line as they head off to execute missions against enemy territories. One drone goes rogue, prompting Reddick and his team to search for it."

The new series will be produced by Clark Baker, Kaylin Boosalis and Bobby Glickert, who co-wrote the web series and will direct. Lin will executive produce, while Reddick and his manager Steven Adams will serve as co-producers.

As announced back in March, Reddick formed a production company called Christai Productions, along with Adams, with the goal being to develop story-driven film and television projects with juicy lead characters that will attract talent and are a little "outside the box" but with "a sharp eye to genre and budget."

And one of those collaborations is now officially complete – a thriller titled St. Sebastian, which stars Reddick, alongside Bill Fichtner, and Constance Zimmer, and which was directed by Danny DeVito.

It's at Cannes this week, where it's expected to sell to territories around the globe.  

Up next for Reddick, look for him in the Viola Davis education reform drama Won’t Back Down, which is scheduled for a fall release. 

Of course, he'll be back in Fox's hit series Fringe, which just received a 13-episode order for its fifth and final season.
