Dancing with the Stars said goodbye to one of its couples on Tuesday, and fans are furious at the shocking elimination.

Fifth Harmony singer Lauren Jauregui and her pro partner, Brandon Armstrong, were voted off the dance competition show in Week 3 after judge and former Dancing with the Stars pro Derek Hough tapped them as one of the season’s couples to watch.

After their elimination, Jauregui told Dancing with the Stars host Alfonso Ribeiro on-air that she was “pissed” about her exit from the show.

“I mean, they asked me how I was feeling in the moment, and that’s how I was feeling in the moment,” Jauregui told TV Insider of her reaction on the press line after the show wrapped filming, adding that she felt “emotional about the whole thing.”

“I feel like I had a lot left to give the show, and I just wish that I would have had the opportunity to do that especially because I was working with Brandon,” she said. “We were going to keep progressing. That was our strategy. It’s sad not to be able to do that.”

Judges flooded Jauregui with praise a week before elimination

According to Parade, Week 3 saw the dance competition show’s first TikTok night, where contestants were asked to perform routines to popular tracks on the platform. After the performances, Ribeiro and his fellow DWTS host Julianne Hough announced the three couples at the bottom: Andy Richter and Emma Slater, Elaine Hendrix and Alan Bersten and Jauregui and Armstrong.

Jauregui and Armstrong were ultimately sent home.

Before their elimination, the DWTS couple had received praise from the judges. According to TV Insider, judge Carrie Ann Inaba called the couple’s Week 2 foxtrot “mesmerizing,” while Derek Hough compared Jauregui to “a willow dancing in a gentle breeze.”

“It’s just so effortless, soft, and beautiful,” he added. “You are an amazing dancer, and I cannot wait to see what you do for the rest of this competition. [You’re] ethereal.”

Before Week 3, Jauregui and Armstrong were tied for third with Alix Earle and her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, and Jen Affleck and Jan Ravnik for the highest total scores.

Fans have speculated that Jauregui’s political stance encouraged her premature departure

Fans are still reeling after Jauregui and Armstrong’s departure, many taking to X, formerly Twitter, to share their reactions.

Some are speculating that Jauregui’s outspokenness against the Trump administration may have led to her premature departure.

Dancing with the Stars airs on ABC and Disney+ on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
