Tabloid websites MediaTakeOut and BlackSportsOnline are facing backlash from LeBron and Savannah James as well as many others after posting a reprehensible story about 16-year-old Bronny James which appeared to have no merit.
Three days ago, Bronny liked a run-of-the-mill photo on Instagram from his best friend's mom, Larsa Pippen. Bronny is close with Scottie Pippen Jr., a sophomore at Vanderbilt University and son of NBA legend Scottie Pippen.
For some reason, MediaTakeOut, followed by BlackSportsOnline, used that one like to write a story claiming the 16-year-old and 46-year-old Larsa were communicating on Instagram in a sexual manner. They ran headlines implying Bronny was "shooting his shot" at Larsa.
Almost immediately, the now-deleted stories on both sites caused outrage because Bronny is a child and they were based on a single like of a single photo.
Both of Bronny's parents responded on Instagram, slamming the outlets for running a story of that caliber about a minor.
"With everything going on in the world right now, THIS is the shit y'all talking about….At the end of the day y'all are talking about a minor. I don't care what type of 'celebrity' y'all think he is, he's a child and the bullshit needs to stop," Savannah wrote on her Instagram Story.

LeBron echoed his wife's statement, warning MediaTakeOut and BlackSportsOnline that they may face consequences for the story.
"Uh-Oh y'all fucked with the wrong one now! Good luck. It won't be cute!" he wrote after sharing his wife's response on Instagram.

Bronny himself has spoken out about the controversy, reiterating that he was simply liking a photo of his friend's mom. The photo is not suggestive at all, and only features Larsa in a big blue hoody.
"I liked one of my best friends moms picture. Y'all are jus childish," he wrote on Instagram.

Larsa herself did not hold back in bashing the gossip blogs that have often used her as clickbait. Both sites appeared to attempt to capitalize off of her history of dating younger men, like rapper Future and NBA player Tristan Thompson, in running the story.
"Some of these stories are so disgusting the fact that my sons friends can’t like my pics without some ppl writing some weirdo shit is crazy," she wrote.

She has been in the news as of late for dating 24-year-old NBA player Malik Beasley, whose wife filed for divorce after seeing the two together, according to Heavy. But Larsa tweeted that the two were already separated when they began seeing each other. The stories about Bronny and Larsa were part of a longstanding gossip site trope of discussing and criticizing Larsa for dating younger men.
She also threatened to sue BlackSportsOnline.

Meanwhile, Bronny is about to start his sophomore season at Sierra Canyon High School in Los Angeles. His father is planning to still be in the NBA with the hopes that they could eventually play together.
"You want to ask me what is the greatest achievement of my life, if I'm on the same court as my son in the NBA. That would be No. 1 in my lifetime as an NBA player. I've thought about it because my son is about to be 14, and he might be able to get in there a little earlier," LeBron said in a 2018 interview with UNINTERRUPTED.
