Los Angeles Lakers player LeBron James defended his son Bronny during the 16-year-old's basketball game over the weekend.

On Saturday, Bronny, 16, was playing for his dad’s alma mater, St. Vincent-St. Mary’s High School at the LeBron James Arena in Akron, Ohio, when the Lakers player got into an altercation with one of the PA announcers.

During the final moments of the game, the PA announcer said Bronny was given a foul call because he was playing in a gym named after his father, the New York Post reported.

James got up from his seat, interrupted the game and confronted the PA announcer, the Lakers Daily reported

Some fans said James’ reaction was justified because court-side announcers don’t give their opinions, The Independent reported.

Some took to Twitter to share their reactions, defending James for standing up for his son.

However, others thought James’ stole the spotlight from his son.

Bronny’s team ended up losing the game during overtime with a final score of 73-69. The game was a part of a 3-day tournament “Battle Summer Showcase” aimed to spotlight some of the best high school basketball players located in the Midwest who could potentially have a future in the NBA.

The 16-year-old has been considered to be a top recruit for collegiate basketball.
