If you need a reason to smile today, look no further than this video. As the buzzer ended in the final quarter of Game 7 of the NBA Finals, the raucous coming from this Akron, Ohio restaurant could rival the celebration happening in the Oracle Arena.
A group of grandmothers and great-grandmothers known as The LeBron James Grandmother’s Fan Club are well known for their love of LeBron. Ten years after the club began in 2006, a portion of the group, which boasts an international membership of over 200, cheered and cried as they watched their beloved grandson win the NBA Championship for his hometown and the state of Ohio. The group loves what LeBron has done for the city of Akron. It’s possible that his influence on the young children of Ohio is central to the grandmothers’ club love for James as well.
Founder and honorary grandmother to James is, Alder Chapman. She created the fan club as a way to honor and support Lebron James for his generosity and for sharing his “god-given gift of backetball.” “He came home to bring it home,” Chapman said after the game.
