In a new exclusive interview with Out Magazine, director Lee Daniels says that he’s developing what he calls an “interracial love affair action movie,” with an interracial gay couple.though he didn’t give any more details about
the premise for the film, although he did say to think of it as a “gay ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith,’ but the two good-looking guys as the action heroes.” 

Mr. and Mrs Smith being the Doug Liman-directed 2005 movie about a bored married couple surprised to learn that they are both assassins hired by competing agencies to kill each other. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie starred in it.

The twist in Daniels’ own movie?

“We don’t find out they’re gay until the end of the movie,” he told Out Magazine.

In the interview, he said that he’s cast Alex Pettyfer (The Butler, Magic Mike, I Am Number Four) as one-half of the couple, and that he
would “have to find the right black guy opposite him.”

And when asked where he would find the financing to make
such a risky project, Daniels responded that things have changed for him considerably, of late: “I don’t think I’m going to have
a problem now. I made a $100 million for The Butler. I’m in a rare group. So
this is something I feel good about.”

O.K. I have to ask, who would you cast has the black co-lead?
