Everything old is new again; and here’s another case in point. Back in the 1960 and 1970’s there maybe was no more popular a writer than Jacqueline Susann, and her book Valley of the Dolls, about the self destructive lives of three women working in show business; not only was it the biggest selling book of its time, but it was also one of the biggest hit movies of 1967.

Now Lee Daniels has made a deal with NBC, 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entetainment to turn the book into a TV series, with Daniels set to write the pilot and executive produce the series.

The book was also the basis for a forgotten mini-series during the early 80’s. The new project will mark Daniels’ first foray into television.

He’s currently in post-production on his new feature film, The Paper Boy, which stars Nicole Kidman, Matthew McConaughey and Zac Efron.
