Many celebrities hope to one day stand next to a wax figure of themselves that will forever live in one of the more than 24 Madame Tussauds locations. On Sept. 20, one lucky star’s dream came true when the wax museum’s Hollywood site revealed its latest recreation — music sensation Lil Nas X.
When the rapper/singer first laid eyes on the figure, he was in disbelief at how identical it was.
“Oh my God! … it’s so good!” he said happily in a video shared in Madame Tussands’ press release. “This is the best one I’ve ever seen. This is the most accurate — oh my God!”
The “Old Town Road” singer’s wax figure wore a replica of the unforgettable gold Versace suit armor he donned at the 2021 Met Gala. The wax museum’s artisans meticulously landed every detail of the outfit, which included the Versace earring, choker, nail art and, most notably, grill — the first wax figure in the museum’s history to have one reproduced in its mouth.
Lil Nas X shared the special unveiling with his followers on social media by posting a video with exclusive photos and clips of the moment, featuring a snippet of his new song “Star Walkin’,” which will be released on Sept. 22.
One of the clips shows the two-time Grammy winner planting a kiss on the figure, further elaborating his affinity for his wax look-alike. He captioned the post, “Never thought I would get the pleasure of meeting myself. The sexual tension was too much to bare [sic]. Thank you @madametussaudsusa!”
The two-time Grammy winner followed up with another social media post of him FaceTiming his family and friends, capturing their reaction to his wildly identical replica.
On the unveiling, Madame Tussauds Hollywood General Manager Therese Alvich noted, “We’re thrilled to welcome Lil Nas X into the Madame Tussauds Hollywood family. As a musical, social and fashion icon, this figure marks an extraordinary addition to our museum. We’re excited for his fans to interact with the star’s identical twin!”
