Lil TJay is recovering in the hospital after being shot numerous times in an attempted robbery in Edgewater, New Jersey, early Wednesday morning.

Mohamed Konate, 27, the alleged suspect, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with three counts of first-degree attempted murder, three counts of first-degree armed robbery and several weapons charges concerning the shooting of rapper Lil TJay born Tione Jayden Merritt.

Two other men, who were with the rapper at the time of the shooting, Antoine Boyd, 22 and Jeffrey Valdez, 24, were also arrested on charges of unlawful weapon possession.

Detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the New York City Police Department arrested Konate and his extradition to New Jersey is pending.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office reports that shots were fired at a Chipotle restaurant in a shopping center around 12:08 a.m., where Lil TJay was found with multiple gunshot wounds.

Boyd was located at an Exxon gas station a mile away from the restaurant with a single gunshot wound. And Valdez was not injured during the shooting.

The rapper had to undergo emergency surgery shortly after the shooting and is apparently on the path to recovery.
