Lil Uzi Vert made an appearance at the 2026 College Football Playoff National Championship game on Monday. The rapper received an invitation from player Fernando Mendoza, who vowed to bring them to the game if his team made it to the championship.

The game resulted in a 27-21 win by the Hoosiers. Fernando Mendoza, who plays as a quarterback for the team, invited Lil Uzi Vert via an interview in December.

“Lil Uzi Vert, if we make the national championship in Miami, this is a formal invitation,” he said during an interview with Lucas Brody for Broadcast Boys, according to Complex. “I don’t have extra tickets because it’s gonna be in Miami, but I will find some way and somehow to invite you.”

The rapper publicly thanked Mendoza on Monday. Fans dubbed them “Lil Hoozi Vert” following their appearance at the event.

“It’s like a dream that I didn’t have, and then I had it,” Uzi told Joe Cronin in an on-the-field interview. “Then it became true. So it was my dream before my dream even happened. Shout out Mendoza.”

Lil Uzi Vert recently dropped three new tracks

Since November, the rapper released three new tracks “Chanel Boy,” “Relevant,” and “What You Saying.” The latter was listed at No. 14 on the Hot 100 chart last week. The success of “What You Saying” also marked Lil Uzi Vert’s first feature on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs chart in three years.

“This is just the beginning,” Lil Uzi Vert told fans after the release of the music video in December.

The artist previously reached the No. 1 spot on the Hot Rap Songs chart with the single “Just Wanna Rock” in 2023 and with their participation in Migos’ “Bad and Boujee” in 2017.

Lil Uzi Vert’s last album, Eternal Atake 2, was released in 2024.
