Big Sean paid a visit to his alma mater, Cass Technical High School, in Detroit where he built a recording studio for the students.

Earlier this week, Big Sean, his pregnant girlfriend Jhené Aiko, and her family took a tour of his old high school. Sean gave fans a peek of the recording studio on his Instagram account.

In the 37-second clip, he showed the creative space and a wall plaque that reads, “Big Sean Studio.”

With plaques of Big Sean’s albums lining the walls, the studio features a drum kit, drum machine, keyboards, and other equipment. However, the rapper seemed more troubled with the absence of students in the studio.

 

“They gotta let the students use this, though,” Sean said. “That’s the whole point of it being here, is for the students to use this… Principal Phillips.”

In a separate video, the Detroit rapper showed off other famous alums from Cass Technical, including legendary singer Diana Ross, former Miss USA Kenya Moore and the iconic comedian David Alan Grier.

In 2015, he teamed up with Adidas Originals to open the studio, Sean Anderson Studio of Infinite Possibilities. In a now-deleted Instagram post, Sean reflected on how he used to sell his mixtapes in the hallways of his school, and less than a decade later, he was opening his studio in the same school.

“I can’t believe I used to rap at the lunch tables, slang my CDs in the hallways,” Big Sean wrote. “Fast forward less than 10 years later; I’m opening up my own recording studio at my old High School, Cass Tech, for the students!”
