Yvonne Orji appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday to discuss her newly released book, Bamboozled by Jesus: How God Tricked Me Into the Life of My Dreams. The conversation, however, turned into a chat about Orji’s desire to be a talk show host.

“That time Ellen gave me her blessing to be a talk show host!” the Insecure actress wrote on her Instagram. “I went on @theellenshow to talk about @bamboozledbyjesus and messed around and got Bamboozled my darn self when she gave me a verbal endorsement to have my own show. Welp, it’s out there now. Jesus you’re up. Do what you do best, and continue to blow my mind!”

“I just say 'yes,'” DeGeneres said during the show. “Because I heard that you want to be a talk show host and I just say yes to that.”

“You know I heard there might be an opening somewhere. The Grapevine or Deadline told me,” the 37-year-old responded, sardonically.

“The Grapevine and the Deadline are right; there’s going to be an opening. I got one more year. I’m not going anywhere right now,” the talk show host said before asking Orji if her dreams of being a talk show host were always a part of her plans.

“It was a thing that I always wanted to do,” Orji responded. “And I specifically wanted to do daytime because I want to give away free stuff. I want to help people go to college, maybe some cars, TVs, you know, the basics. But I also just, like, genuinely enjoy people.”

DeGeneres emphasized how Orji was essentially manifesting her wishes by asking for what she wants, helping her affirm them in real-time.

“So did you just give me a letter of recommendation, is that what I just heard?” the Emmy-nominated actress asked.

“I did, I think you would be great, I think you’re funny and I think you would love it and if you love helping people then it is a great job,” DeGeneres responded.

At the conclusion of their exchange, the “Finding Nemo” actress offered Orji the opportunity to guest host her show next year.

“Next year, I’d like you to guest host for me, try it out, see how it feels,” she offered.

Orji responded with a resounding yes, saying she would be “honored.”

Earlier this month, the 63-year-old announced that she would be ending her show in 2022, after running for 19 seasons, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She added that the show was no longer "a challenge anymore."

In addition to getting an endorsement to be a talk show host, Orji also explained the content of her new book, sharing hilarious anecdotes and admitting that she was “tricked” into happiness by trusting God.

“The subtitle is ‘How God Tricked Me Into the Life of My Dreams,’ so things worked out, just in case people were like ‘This is blasphemy, Jesus don’t be bamboozling folks,” the Nigeria native said.

On Tuesday, Orji posted that her memoir was available for purchase, showcasing how ecstatic she was to see its release.

“This is the face of joy. Of a dream realized. Of God’s promises being fulfilled. Bamboozled By Jesus is OUT TODAY! #MyHappyIsHappy,” Orji wrote on Twitter.
