Ketanji Brown Jackson is on her way to making history after being nominated to sit on the Supreme Court.

During her confirmation hearing on Monday, Jackson’s family, including her mother and father, Johnny and Ellery Brown, her husband, Patrick Jackson, and their daughters, Talia and Leila, were seated front and center, beaming with pride.

During Jackson’s opening remarks, the federal judge shared her background with the committee, explaining the meaning of her name and describing her parents influence in her life.
“To express both pride in their heritage and hope for the future, they gave me an African name,” she said in a clip published by PBS NewsHour. “Ketanji Onyika, which they were told means lovely one.”
Jackson’s parents were beaming with pride, and thankfully the camera caught the poignant moment.

Jackson also talked about her husband of 25 years, Patrick Jackson. She credited his support as a key reason for her success.
“We met in college more than three decades ago and since then, he’s been the best husband, father and friend I could ever imagine.”
Patrick couldn’t hold back the tears during her opening statements.

As Patrick was getting emotional, Jackson’s daughter looked at both him and her mother with the utmost pride.

Jackson also talked about her daughters, and thanked them for their support over the years. She explained that she “did not always get the balance right” between her career and motherhood, but she hopes that her girls have seen “that with hard work, determination, and love, it can be done,” the Independent UK reports.

Both of her daughters, Leila and Taila, got emotional during Jackson’s kind and candid words to them.
