Ne-Yo suggested women should "stop dancing" to misogynistic music that degrades women if they want men to stop calling them "b***hes." During a recent appearance this week on The Cruz Show on 92.3 in Los Angeles, the singer/songwriter opened up about his thoughts on current mainstream music, which he feels is "super misogynistic."

“It’s gotten super misogynistic, which I don’t understand,” the singer said, adding that he feels men aren't entirely responsible for the heightened trend. “And mind you, I can only blame us men halfway for that. Because as a woman, if a man sings the word ‘b***h’ to you and you smile at him, then he’s probably going to do it again.”
The "Miss Independent" artist theorized that women should take up the torch for changing the status quo, explaining that if women stopped enjoying the music, men would have to change the music they release.
“The more misogynistic the lyrics get, the more y’all accept it, the more it’s gonna happen,” he said. “That’s just kinda what that is. So ladies, I love y’all to death but if y’all want men to stop calling you ‘b***hes,’ stop dancing to them records.”
While there's been some uproar regarding the unwarranted advice from the singer, a group of supporters have shown up to defend Ne-Yo's ideas on social media.
Who's forcing the women to dance and listen to the lyrics? If no one patronized a business, it would typically close. Same here.
Also… When positive music is put out there, I don't see that blowing up the charts. Take accountability, stop the gaslighting. #IStandWithNeYo

Ne-Yo is right though… if you hate a behavior, you should stop rewarding it!
Hata hapa Tanzania, watu wanalalamika art of songwriting imekufa, ila hao hao wako busy singing tunes ambazo zinawafanya hao artist kuwa encouraged kufanya the same thing y’all claim to dislike! 🤷🏾♂️

Contradictorily, in 2017, Ne-Yo told women to stop taking relationship advice from him or any other man in response to an Instagram post from Tyrese.
“Don’t listen to any of our advice,” he commented at the time, according to Instagram. “Do what you want.”
