Loni Love is facing major backlash after saying slavery is the reason Black men are not faithful to their significant others.

On Wednesday’s episode of The Real, the hosts discussed Kevin Hart’s cheating scandal. Back in 2017, the comedian cheated on his wife, Eniko Hart, who was pregnant at the time, while in Vegas. His new Netflix docu-series, Kevin Hart: Don’t F**k This Up, touches on the infamous incident, with his wife saying she’s happy it occurred because it made him a better man.

Earlier this week, Joe Budden let his opinions on the matter be known. On The Joe Budden Podcast, the former rapper said he can understand why the comedian cheated.

“In thinking about how hard he works, sometimes you’re not home but 10 seconds of the day for however many days. I, as a man, can understand how that can be difficult,” Budden said. “I know how I was feeling just going to work and spending very little time at home. We don’t have to get into that but as men, I think y’all know what I’m saying.”

The women of The Real had some thoughts on both Hart’s infidelity and Budden’s comments. While Adrienne Houghton didn’t agree with Budden, saying that work shouldn’t “affect the sanctity of your marriage,” it’s Love’s remarks that are catching the internet by storm.

The 48-year-old talked down on Budden’s reasoning and said many Black men don’t know how to be faithful while in a relationship.

“I don’t speak for the Black community,” Love began. “But I do think that a lot of Black men, they really don’t know how to have true faithful relationships. They think because they have money, because they have power, that they can treat women any kind of way. And that is something we need to work on.”

Houghton interrupted Love, saying that it’s not just Black men but rather men across all cultures. Love, who is dating a white man, quickly shot Houghton down and blamed generational trauma from slavery and broken families for Black men’s unfaithfulness.

“No, it’s not across the board because what is happening is that we are still dealing with the point of slavery,” she said. “And we are descendants of slavery and because our families were broken up, we still do not have an idea of how to have togetherness because our families were broken up.”

Her comments started a Twitter storm as many social media users did not seem to agree with the television host.

New co-host, Amanda Seales, agreed with Love adding that things such as welfare reform also play a part. Tamera Mowry added that cheating is selfish and affects not only the spouse but also children.
