Love & Marriage: Huntsville is back for its milestone 10th season. With Melody Rodgers gone, the Scott sisters take center stage. Questions about Kimmi and Maurice Scott — and LaTisha and Marsau Scott’s marriages — have always come and gone. And this time around, they are standing on business and sticking together as a family more than ever.

Despite a united front, there’s drama within the Scott dynasty. Kimmi and Maurice confront hard truths about their blended family dynamic, while Tisha and Marsau are up against balancing booming business deals and their eldest child heading off to college. But the real chaos is with the rest of the cast.

Martell Holt makes a bold decision in trying to move forward after his divorce from Melody. Chris and Nell Fletcher are dealing with the realities of how being grandparents can impact their marriage. Destiny Payton starts to embrace her single era after learning her ex, Lance, fathered a child while they were dating, causing further estrangement between her and his mother, Nell. LaTricia Reedus finds herself torn between her partner, Ken Lee, and her estranged husband, Marques, whose return stirs up old wounds and sends LaTricia on a powerful journey of self-discovery through therapy. And Martell is on the outs with the Scotts following an explosive Season 9 reunion and social media war.

Can the Huntsville cast make peace? Blavity’s Shadow and Act chatted with the Scott sisters about all to expect this season.

So congratulations on Season 10. That is a milestone — 10 seasons on the Oprah Winfrey Network. How are you guys feeling going into the season?

LaTisha: Of course it’s different this season because we’re filming with one less of the original six. I was pretty excited about going into this season. I was excited to see what we’re gonna be doing new, how everything is gonna play out, and how we were going to work together as a cast, and so far it’s been going great.

Kimmi: I agree with everything she said. I was a little apprehensive, because we have to build the circle and build the bond with a lot of the newer people that we are just meeting. And it’s been pretty cool so far. It didn’t take long to settle in and get to know everybody and just make it do what it do.

Were you guys disappointed by the absence of one of the original six?

Kimmi: I have always liked the concept of The Comeback Group and how it was initiated, how the comeback group itself prior to TV, prior to all of that. So it was bothersome that the whole group didn’t go forward at one time.

From the time we started, I always felt like it took the group to make it happen, but we respect everybody’s decisions and the path that everyone chooses, and wish everybody well, everybody.

LaTisha: I agree with Kimmi. And of course for me, everybody knows the history of me and Ms. Melody Holt. So, we were actually just starting to get on good footage.

We saw y’all tag teaming at the reunion.

LaTisha: Right! So going into it, I was looking forward to what could have been next for us as we build on our relationship. But at the end of the day, we totally understand her decision, although it was a sad moment, but we really wish her well on her journey.

Now let’s get into some of the Scott sisters’ storyline because I’ve been able to watch a few of the episodes in advance. There’s a lot that you guys dig into, starting with you, LaTisha. You’re dealing with becoming an empty nester with MJ going away to school. So is he in school now? And if so, how is he adjusting? And how are you handling everything?

LaTisha: I was just talking to him right before this call. Him and Marsau, they’re getting ready to go to Rome, Italy, for the Kendrick Lamar concert. And so this is one of his graduation gifts, and we were talking about his move. So he’ll be moving into college this month. I am happy he didn’t decide to go to Michigan. He’s actually gonna stay closer to home, so he will be at Auburn University, which is also the school I have my master’s degree from. So, I’m super excited about him starting school and what college looks like for him. I’m also sad because he is my firstborn and he has been a big help around the house for me. And just to know that he’s going to be away and he’s not going to be coming home every night, it’s still a bittersweet moment for me. And we did purchase some land around the corner from the campus, so I’m still gonna be there visiting a lot.

And the guys are taking center stage this season. Kimmi, this season, we see your son Jaylin actually express some of his grievances with Maurice as a father figure — or him perceiving him to be more of like a big brother. It doesn’t seem like that’s necessarily surprised you. Are these conversations that you had with Maurice in real time throughout your relationship and how do we see that play out throughout the rest of the season?

Kimmi: I’ve seen some of the comments. And to be fair, people who have watched us since day one know this is not a new conversation. People who haven’t watched since day one think that this is, ‘Oh wow, he should have said this a long time ago.’ But this is not a new conversation in regards to some of the things, his requirements of Jaylin versus his requirements of Monster. So no, I wasn’t surprised, but the story kind of unfolded based on a whole different scenario. And you’ll get a little bit more of that information. But most people who’ve been watching since the beginning know that we’ve had this conversation a couple of times down the road.

Tisha, your mom, Ms. Wanda, is back. Whether that’s for better or worse, we will see. But we do see in the trailer that you enlist her help with Miss Nell. Now considering what’s happened between your mom and other cast members in the past, why did you decide to bring her into the fold again?

LaTisha: Well, in the past, my mom just pretty much inserted herself. I didn’t ask her to insert herself in the group. But this time, because of Miss Nell, she’s more closer to my mother’s age and I didn’t want to be totally disrespectful towards her, and I really don’t want to go there with her. But I knew just the right person who would give her exactly what she’s looking for. And so, hey, here comes my mom.

We also see in the trailer that Kimmi and Ms. Nell get into it again. She has been open about her belief that the Scott sisters aren’t as transparent with their marital issues as other cast members. We also remember the blowup between you, Kimmi, and Miss Nell in St. Thomas last year. Were there any remnants of drama spilling over to this season, or are these all new issues between you?

Kimmi: I think with Miss Nell and I, or anyone, is that she has to treat me a little more gently in her conversation. I try to turn the other cheek. I try to give grace, because my intention is not to be disrespectful to anybody at any time. However, when I ask multiple times, and you choose to not listen and talk to me crazy, then I match that. I don’t like the whole yelling and hollering and screaming thing. And so it kind of just rubbed me the wrong way every now and then. And that particular day I was rubbed. And even in Saint Thomas, it was the same.

I don’t like when we get into the moment of those conversations and she can’t control the yelling. But it quickly passes. I just don’t care for that part.

What else are we going to see from your personal storylines? I know Tisha and Marsau are still building Scott Manor. Kimmi, we learn you’re building a new eatery. What else will we see outside of that?

Kimmi: Our goal is to demonstrate a lot of what we said we were going to do from the beginning. We’ve always said that we were gonna rebuild, provide education, provide sustenance to the community that we currently live in, and that’s what we’ve been doing. All of it isn’t always showcased because a lot of times it is given the impression that y’all prefer the drama. But I do believe this season, we’re gonna get a lot more of some of the things we’re actually doing in the community and building.

We’re finishing the eatery. We got some other projects that we’re working on that, you know, y’all will see the beginning stages. And so we’re hoping that we get to kind of talk more about some of the renovation projects that we’ve completed. Jaylin does have his own investment property, and you will be able to see that. He got his first investment property that he’s been working on and renovating. So you’ll get to see some conversation in that regard too. So we’re really wanting them to showcase more of what we said we were gonna do from the beginning and we actually do every day, every day.

LaTisha: For me, it is definitely showcasing what we said from the very beginning with The Comeback Group and really investing in North Huntsville. And so this season, you guys will get a chance to see one of the homes. We’ve been so focused on commercial real estate, but we’re focusing on residential now too, so we’re actually building a modern home right here in North Huntsville, which is different for the community and also different for this area of Huntsville, Alabama. So, you guys will see that, and the second half is when the big open house would be. I am active in real estate, opening my brokerage office and focusing on the development of the North Huntsville community.

Now, before I let the two of you go, let’s get into a few other storylines that we’re going to see unfold. So, what do you guys make of this whole Tricia, Ken and Marques triangle?

LaTisha: Oh, well, Kimmi is the mentor in this whole situation, so I think she would be the main person to give insight.

Kimmi: My heart actually goes out to them because blended families can be tough, and I have had my fair share of tough. And it’s something all of them have to agree to be able to say, ‘We’re gonna get along and we’re gonna get along, come hell or high water, no more low blows, no more side eyes, no more digs. We’re just gonna get along.’ And until all of them kind of get on that same page, it makes it tough on everybody. And I like Tricia. I like her a lot. So, my heart goes out to her often when she is kinda put in a lot of these triangles.

LaTisha: It is difficult because with the whole Trish and Ken and Marques mess. It’s up and down with me. One minute I see them going forward, and the next, nothing they do makes sense. I can’t wait to see what the fans think of this whole situation.

So Destiny’s love life is always a hot topic, and this season we learned that her Lance, Miss Nell’s son, are seemingly done because he had a baby. So, how do we see that play out in her potentially moving on to another person in the family as she is apparently also dating Miss Nell’s godson?

Kimmi: Are they done?

LaTisha: I don’t know.

Kimmi: Yeah, y’all gonna have to like to see that because we all got that information at the same time. All of us got that information simultaneously from Lance on social media, so we’ve been watching it in real time.

And finally, Martell is allegedly moving forward with, who we now know to be Arianne Curry, his longtime mistress. I saw a recent interview that you guys did with Carlos King and you guys said that obviously this is nothing new. You guys have seen them all around town, through the Huntsville streets, but are we going to see her in the season on the show finally? They showed a picture in one episode and they’re posting things online together now, so does she make an appearance?

Kimmi: I am going to be very honest. People ask us stuff a lot about what we’re gonna see. Child, we see it when you see it. Literally, I saw that picture the same time you saw that picture. So, it’s always like sometimes it’s a surprise to everybody.
