Comedian Luenell expressed her frustration on Tuesday, saying she was censored on Instagram after recently posting photos of herself in lingerie.
The post in question, which was taken down after being reported, was intended to be a tribute to Rihanna, who allowed the comedian to serve as an ambassador of the Savage X Fenty fashion brand.
"I’m a comedian but this s**t is HILARIOUS!" the longtime entertainer said. "After posting pictures that had already been on Instagram FOR ALMOST 2 YEARSSSSS, I did a thank you throwback pictorial to Thank @badgalriri (who responded btw) for affording me the opportunity to be one of her @savagexfenty lingerie ambassadors. Obviously someone reported me."
The lingerie photos are now back on Instagram after Luenell appealed her case.
"My message was about positivity and self-confidence," the Original Bad Girl of Comedy wrote.
Luenell added that she is especially frustrated because she has seen other posts that are much more revealing, but not censored.
"I am thoroughly disappointed in society, and SOCIAL MEDIA for being prejudice against size and age," she said. "Apparently a big Black beautiful, confident woman (and MAN for That matter) Still shakes up the masses. Jealous much??? Well get over it because unless they straight up ban me, I’m not going anywhere and I will continue to be the woman that I was born to be."
The Hollywood star thanked some of her supporters in the media while expressing her frustration with Instagram. She also took the opportunity to promote her work.
"Language restrictions forbid me from saying how I REALLY feel so I will suggest that you check out one of my comedy shows very soon because I will be discussing this Very Situation," she said.
When she posted her tribute to Rihanna on Tuesday, Luenell said she was taking the time to reflect on her blessings.
"As this psychotic year ends and we (hopefully) roll into 2022, I want to take this time to reflect over some of my blessings. I’m not doing this to brag," she wrote. "I’m doing this for every underdog ever got told what they Couldn’t and would NEVER be able to do."
The comedian also quoted Tupac, saying “Baby don’t cry, hope ya got cha Head up.”
"While it’s easy (and… Human) to complain, take some time to really stop and count your blessings and opportunities," she said.
Luenell plans to add more posts containing positive messages going into the new year.
