Madea is out of retirement with Tyler Perry‘s next Netflix film, Tyler Perry’s A Madea Homecoming. The first images are below.
The film is, of course, written and directed by Tyler Perry and produced by Will Areu and Mark Swinton with Perry as executive producer. The film stars Perry as the titular character along with Cassi Davis Patton, David Mann, Tamela Mann, Gabrielle Dennis, Brendan O’Carroll, Brandon Black and Isha Blaaker.
For Madea’s return, the gun-toting matriarch is celebrating her great-grandson’s college graduation amid personal family scandal.
According to the official description:
Madea’s back — hallelujer! Tyler Perry returns with everyone’s favorite character in TYLER PERRY’S A MADEA HOMECOMING, the newest film in the MADEA franchise set to debut on Netflix. Writer-director-producer Perry stars in the film that centers around Madea’s great-grandson’s college graduation, though the celebratory moment hits a halt as hidden secrets and family drama threaten to destroy the happy homecoming. The film features all-stars of the MADEA franchise, including Tamela Mann (Cora), David Mann (Mr. Brown), Cassi Davis Patton (Aunt Bam) as well as a guest appearance from iconic Irish actor Brendan O’Carroll, who matches Madea’s comedic prowess as Agnes Brown.
The film will come to Netflix Feb. 25.

The multihyphenate also has his many projects set up across ViacomCBS networks BET and BET+.
Perry is also working on Disney+’s Sister Act 3 as a producer and gave an update on the film’s progress Nov. 2021, saying, “The script is being written and I am the producer on it–not directing. We brought on an incredible director [Tim Federle] and Whoopi’s really excited. I think that this is just what the country needs. We need that feel-good moment in th emovies where you go, ‘Oh my God, I left there singing, ‘That’s my hope.'”
